Today marks the 25th anniversary of the release of Carl Sagan's Contact as a film in the US (September in the UK). An incredible film that portrays an extraordinarily important scientific and philosophical avenue of research.
"You're an interesting species, an interesting mix. You are capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone. Only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing that we've found that makes the emptiness bearable... is each other."
A scene that spoke to so many, especially women in science.
